Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Ecology and dynamics of freshwater fish populations, theory

The course addressed the theoretical concepts and practical-technological tools it is important to know to apprehend the study of the ecology of fish in rivers, at the individual and populational level.

Management of freshwater fish culture

The course will be organized in the form of seminars and visits whose themes will be: Biology and fish identification, Fish farms (hatchery, artificial propagation, ...), Fish farming: cypriniculture and salmon farming, Development of aquatic habitats, Waterway legislation and the functioning of the competent administrations in the Walloon Region.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Ecology and dynamics of freshwater fish populations, theory

Learning basic knowledges of the ecology of inland water fish in order to apprehend the thoughtful management of their populations in a context of numerous and varied anthropic pressures.

Management of freshwater fish culture

Understanding the general biology of fish.
Knowledge of the organisation of fish farming.
Grasping the management technics of fish populations.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- Knowing biology and identifying main fish species
- Better understanding working of competent directions in Walloon Region
- Mastering management technics of fish populations
- Identifying characteristics and difficulties of fish rearing
