Learning unit contents

Inland water rivers are undergoing many anthropogenic pressures that have major impacts on fisheries resources and fishing activities, especially in southern countries.
The objective of the course is to learn the basics of the ecology of inland water fish, which are necessary to understand a thoughtful and integrated management of their populations.
Solutions are proposed to conciliate the uses and services provided by rivers (hydroelectricity, navigation, irrigation, tourism, etc.) and the protection of fish resources.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Learning basic knowledges of the ecology of inland water fish in order to apprehend the thoughtful management of their populations in a context of numerous and varied anthropic pressures.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge in biology, knowledge of the French language

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lecture with the possibility of interactions with students for any questions related to their particular interests. Field acivities are organized.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Physical presence for the theoritical courses and the field activities.

Assessment methods and criteria

Organizational remarks

A respectful interaction between the professor and the students is the best for the atmosphere during the theoretical classes. It is requested to arrive on time and not to devote the attendance to theoritical course to parallel activities with no relations with the teaching activity.
