Introduction to the basic concepts of atomic and molecular spectroscopy
1. General concepts
2. Atomic spectroscopy (UV-Visible and X-Rays)
3. Infrared and Raman vibrational spectroscopies
4. Electronic spectroscopy

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the students should have reached an understanding of the spectroscopic concepts which allows them to follow easily more advanced application-oriented courses.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Good understanding of general physics courses (1st and 2nd bachelor years)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

5 two-hour lectures favouring the active participation of the students

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

face-to-face - beginning of the 2nd semester

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

The course was given entirely by videoconference. Podcasts were uploaded to the MyULiège platform.
