Organisation and examination
Teaching in the second semester
Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Chapter 1 Acid/Base equilibrium
Chapter 2 Buffer solutions, titrations and polyprotic acids
Chapter 3 Precipitation equilibria- Solubility products
Chapter 4 Oxido-reductions and electrochemistry
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of the course, students will master the theoretical aspects related to acid / base equilibrium, titrations , buffer solutions, the equilibria of sparingly soluble salts, solubility products and Redox systems
He/she will show scientific reasoning skills by solving exercises
He will develop basic analytical knowledge by conducting laboratory experiments
It will be capable of designing lab reports
The team work will be favoured
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
CHIM9268-1 General Chemistry
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Theoritical lectures
Problem solving sessions
Introductory sessions laboratories
Practical work in the laboratory (basic manipulations related to the cursus)
Computer assisted learning
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Theory and practical work are carried out in face-to-face
Personal homework and tutoring
Theory: 20h + 8 h Remediation
Exercises and labs: 21h
12h Exercises
9 h Laboratory (Mandatory attendance at laboratory, test allowing admission to be done before)
Repeating students : No attendance at laboratory
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
A written exam integrating theoretical concepts and exercises is preferred but, if necessary, the exam could be replaced by a distance test taking both theoretical concepts in the form of MCQs, short answer questions and short problems.
Recommended or required readings
Theoritical course, exercises and laboratory notes (also available on e-campus-Blackboard Platefrom)

Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
Theory: oral or written examination
Exercises: written exam
A single written exam integrating theory and exercices can be proposed
Laboratory: evaluation of the preliminary test at the begenning of the lab.and report cotation
Notes: Theory (45%), exercises (40%), laboratory (15%)
Laboratory rating acquired during the year is still valid in second session (rating postponed)
Repeating students : notes : theory (55%) Exercises (45%) - No attendance at laboratory
Work placement(s)
No training
