Schedule

Schedule online

Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course studies macromolecules properties in solution (determination of molecular weight, ...) and at the solid state in function of temperature (Tg, rheology,...).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Understanding of the behavior of macromolecules in solution and at the solid state in function of the temperature and its implication in the characterisation and use of these materials.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic course introduction to macromolecular chemistry (3rd BAC Prof. C. Jérôme)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Pratical examples of the measurement of macromolecules molecular weight (GPC, NMR, DLS), thermal behavior (DSC), thermo-mechanical properties (DMA and rheology) in the research lab in the frame of a small research project.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face (could become on-line depending on the evolution of the sanitary conditions)

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

So that confined students can follow the course, it is given simultaneously on site and remotely via lifesize. The lessons are also simultaneously recorded. The podcast is then made available for viewing outside of the course time slot.
The written exam (open questions) will be carried out face-to-face or remotely.

Recommended or required readings

A copy of the slides is available.
Some selected scientific papers are suggested to the students.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Written exams.
