Gas-liquid-solid bubble columns: description, hydrodynamical regimes, modelisation, transfer parameter estimations. Gas-liquid-solid mechanically agitated slurry reactors: description, hydrodynamical regimes, modelisation, transfer parameter estimations. Trickle-bed reactors: desctiption, hydrodynamical regimes, wetting, modelisation, transfer parameter estimations. Introduction to numerical methods: ordinary diffential equations, partial differential equations, orthogonal collocation.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Application of the Chemical Reaction Engineering methods to the complex situations occurring in the description of multiphased reactors
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
CHIM0012-1 Chemical kinetics, CHIM0023-1 Chemical Engineering (reactors), CHIM0024-1 Applied Physical Chemistry
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
In small groups, it consists in a quatitative explanation of results coming from the Chemical Engineering literature.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
1st semester
Organisational adjustments related to the current health context
Recommended or required readings
The text of the course is available as a printed syllabus and can be access on internet at http://www.ulg.ac.be/bioreact then select CHIM0055-1.
Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
