Learning unit contents
The course is devoted to plant and animal ecophysiology.
The plant side is made of two chapters : 1) adaptation and physiological tolerance to abiotic stress; 2) relationships between organisms, including beneficial associations, biotic stress and allelopathy.
The animal side will mainly focus on physiological responses to modifications of the environment. The relationship between physiology and behaviour will also be addressed.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of the Animal Ecophysiology part of the course is to illustrate how physiology governs the animal interactions with their environment and influences animal behaviour.
The Plant Ecophysiology part also aims at informing students of the different methods used to improve crop resistance to environmental stresses.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
It is useful to have bases in physiology, ecology, ethology and evolution.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
theoretical lectures, presentations by the students and practicals.
The course on animal ecophysiology needs the reading of a article or book chapter in preparation of each chapter of the course.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
The lectures are given during the first quadrimester, starting in September. An active participation to practicals is mandatory.

On line teaching may be organized according to the number of students and the COVID19 pandemia status.
Up-date : from October 26th, teaching will be organized on line (Lifesize platform) according the schedule.

The Power-Point slides will be available in a .pdf format. Articles and book chapters will be available on eCampus.
For the Plant Ecophysiology part, lectures given on Lifesize will be recorded and made available as podcasts.
Assessment methods and criteria
Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.
The evaluation is based on oral or written exams, and also on the practical.
For the Plant Ecophysiology part, the evaluation is based on a personal work and an oral exam. If the exam can not be organized face-to-face in January 2021, it will take place on line (Lifesize platform).
The final note is calculated as follows : 40% Plant Ecophysiology, 30% Animal Ecophysiology, 30% Practicals, providing that the student obtained at least 8/20 for each of the theoritical parts.
