Learning unit contents

Specific theme (urban/landscape) with cross-cutting relationships.
The workshop enables students to experiment with a project that raises urban development and landscape issues on several scales, in an intensive and exclusive way.
Students from both urban and landscape specialisation courses will have the opportunity to work together.  They will be asked to understand, experiment and promote the value of public and unbuilt spaces through the project.
The subject of the workshop is rooted in contemporary issues and, more often than not, responds to requests for joined up working from different actors (municipalities, non-profit organisations,...).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This approach allows students to: - study a region facing a contemporary problem; - discover realities on the ground with the help of local actors; - act, identify and plan in interaction with decision-makers and residents; - work alongside and interview residents and decision-makers through the project.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course takes the form of an intensive one-week workshop.
Students work in small groups with the support of the teachers.
Resource persons and local actors intervene during the week to shed light on specific issues and interact with students.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Organisational adjustments related to the current health context

Recommended or required readings

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

The evaluation takes the form of an oral presentation with graphic and/or video and text materials. A panel of resource persons associated with the project evaluates the proposals received at the end of the intensive period. The evaluation takes the form of an overall rating discussed and decided by all the members of the committee.
In the case of "remote" rehabilitation, the evaluation will relate to all the documents - drawings and writings - drawn up as a team during the week.
