Learning unit contents

This course focuses on the evolution of attitudes towards existing architecture over time, with an emphasis on the contemporary period and reuse-reconversion practices. These attitudes are illustrated, for each period of history, by case studies and contemporary theoretical texts. 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

  • knowledge of the basic concepts and principles that underpinned reuse and reconversion operations in history;
  • knowledge of current debates on adaptive reuse;
  • development of a critical spirit towards the current and past practices of adaptive reuse;
  • inttroduction to the master courses in the field of adaptive reuse.

The theory and history of architecture courses of the baccalaureate cycle.
