Learning unit contents

Through the course DIDAC II, we will continue to study throughly the topics explored during the cursus DIDAC I.
Various original didactic tools to build the learning will be experienced and analysed.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this teaching unit, the student will be able to: - build a complete lesson sequence, consistent with the expectations of the competency frameworks for secondary education and consistent with the most relevant pedagogical foundations, given the research in didactics; - satisfactorily implement several lesson sequences in secondary education; - be able to self-evaluate and justify choices based on pedagogical and didactic theories and grids; - to design original didactic tools adapted to the subjects to be addressed and to the public concerned.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The different parts of the exam DIDAC I must have been taked.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The second part of the didactics course is essentially made up of workshops focusing on different teaching modalities: exploiting internet tools in geography (virtual globes, map portals) and GIS, excursions and other field trips, simulation games, etc., and planning a course over a school year.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Presence obligatory. Classes and workshops take place on Wednesdays. The participation and involvement of everyone are necessary for the smooth running of the training system.

Assessment methods and criteria

Below you will find information on the evaluation methods planned for in-person and remote exams as well as those planned for hybrid sessions. Depending on how the health crisis evolves, the chosen method will be communicated to you no later than one month before the start of the exam session.

Any session :

- In-person

oral exam

- Remote

oral exam

- If evaluation in "hybrid"

preferred in-person

Additional information:

1. Formative evaluation: exercises carried out during the workshops, assessment (possible rating) by peers, teachers and supervisors.

2. Certificate evaluation : The evaluation of students' competences will be carried out in two ways: - Portfolio (finalisation/improvement of the productions made during the sessions), to be handed in at the end of the sessions. The submission of the portfolio is required in order to be able to present the public lessons.
- Public lessons: this examination consists of the presentation of the pedagogical device planned for two sequences of lessons on two different subjects before a mixed jury (representatives of the different branches of geography and representatives of general didactics). A serious failure in the public lessons may result in a failure for this teaching unit.

Work placement(s)

Organizational remarks

Sessions take place on Wednesdays at the Institute of Geography - 1st floor - Grande salle de TP. A student who does not satisfy the requirements for access to the examination is not eligible to take it.
