Information

Rheumatology

Presentation
Ultrasound is an essential methodology used in Rheumatology. It allows a number of intra- and peri-articular processes to be identified and quantified. This allows more thorough analysis of the diagnosis and the evolution of rheumatoid conditions. The use of ultrasound as a 'stethoscope' for joints requires specific teaching which is closely related to the clinical approach. This course provides this specific teaching.
Conditions of access
This training is intended for specialist doctors or those in their last year of specialisation in rheumatology who are authorised to practice in Belgium. Doctors in another speciality must obtain the approval of the course leaders.
Those who are interested are asked to contact the course leader, who will consider their application (one of the prerequisites for the application is to have an ultrasound at their disposal, capable of performing good quality articular examinations).
Number of enrolments: Minimum three students and maximum eight students.
Duration
- 25 hours of theory classes: in-person lectures
- 38 hours of practical work: learning how to use ultrasound in small groups using ultrasound equipment
- 40 hours of internship :
20 hours of rheumatology ultrasound consultations at CHU Sart Tilman
20 hours of ultrasound consultations with the internship supervisor
- Total for the course : 20 ECTS.
