The purpose of the various activities comprising this course is to help students develop their professional project.

In the 'Positioning' section (Y2 of bachelor's degree), the profession is considered through the competences of the speech & language therapist (prevention, assessment, therapy, professional relationship, expertise) and students are shown this in the field and begin to play an active role.
In the 'Integration' section (Y3 of bachelor's degree), the competence-oriented approach is reinforced and students are led to demonstrate their command of the speech & language therapist's primary competences.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment is based on a file written individually, composed of the following elements: five reports on the professional conferences, one report on the compulsory piece of reading, a mind map on the student's representation of the profession of speech & language therapist with an explanation of the map's evolution, a critical reflection on the speech & language therapist's competency framework, and a summary of an article in English on a piece of scientific research on speech & language therapy. The exact instructions and the assessment criteria are given to the students during the first lesson of the course.
Remark concerning spelling: command of the French language is one of the basic competences in order to work as a speech & language therapist. As such, if the file handed in contains more than 10 spelling mistakes (usage and/or agreements) during the first exam session, students will receive a fail for the first exam session and they will have to submit it again during the second exam session. If the file is handed in during the second session and contains more than 10 spelling mistakes, two points will be deducted from the student's course mark.
Remark concerning the deadline for the report: students must respect the deadline for handing in the file. If a file is handed in late during the first exam session, students will receive a fail and will have to hand it in during the second exam session. If the file is handed in late during the second exam session, two points will be deducted from the course mark.
