Learning unit contents

The course of Physiology I includes the following contents :

  • Introduction to physiology,
  • General physiology,
  • Muscular physiology,
  • Neurophysiology,
  • Thermoregulation and exercise physiology.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective of these lectures is to describe the function of the different systems of the body, taking into account the peculiarities of the different species of domestic animals.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The pre-requisites are disponible in the study programme .

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The practices include seminars, demonstrations, interactive video teaching, functional tests and initiation to experimentation. They are compulsory and require a clean lab jacket, and a stethoscope.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

The time schedules of the theoretical and practical teachings are available on the valves and on the website of the faculty. Any change is announced orally and on the university portal.

Recommended or required readings

The manuscripts and notes are available at the "Office des Cours de la Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire" (Bât. B42).
The reference book is the "Cunningham's Textbook of Veterinary Physiology, 5th Edition" edited in 2013 by J. Cunningham in W.B. Saunders Company. It is available at the faculty library.

Assessment methods and criteria

The evaluation of the student is organised as a 90 minutes written examination, including multiple choice questions and open questions with short answers.
