Learning unit contents

This module focuses on the development of an integrated weed and pest management strategy. In order to develop an integrated management strategy to control identified weeds and bio-aggressors (weeds, pests and pathogenic micro-organisms), the chemical control methods will be apprehended and included in an integrated and reasoned management approach of weeds and pests. biological pests. The concept of "strategy" of integrated pest management is developed. The physiological state of the plant to incorporate abiotic stresses will also be considered. Including warning systems reflecting the epidemiological evolution of bio-aggressors, the rational use and application techniques of phytosanitary products as well as the compatibility of treatments (in relation to modes of action, formulations and use of agents - biological substances) will also be presented. In order to develop agri-environmental management approaches to the plot to promote beneficial micro- and macro-organisms, adequate management of soil and plant biodiversity will be developed. This management takes into account wild species - potentially weeds, plant-weed relationships as well as plants - bio-aggressors - auxiliaries and plant-bio-aggressors-antagonists. This management will be illustrated by seminars and case studies (intercropping, grass strips MAE, establishment of hedgerows see agroforestry, work and soil amendment ...) related to the diversity and abundance of weeds , bio-aggressors and (micro) -macroorganisms useful (pollinators, predators and entomophagous parasites, antagonistic micro-organisms and / or fertilizers).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, the student will have demonstrated his ability to use in the seminars and to return during the final college exam: * Provide a global view of the integrated management of different pest groups by integrating weed, plant pathology, entomological, phytotechnical, phytopharmaceutical and economic considerations; * Understand how to develop an intervention strategy incorporating the various aspects; * Demonstrate the integration of chemical and non-chemical management and control methods for weeds and bio-aggressors taking into account the (in) compatibilities and constraints related to all groups of pests; * Allow the appropriate decision to implement sustainable and reasoned methods of controlling weeds and bio-aggressors according to the situations encountered. * Know the basics of the biology and ecophysiology of bio-aggressors and their harmfulness in agricultural production systems; * Control chemical and other means to ensure the management of populations in agricultural and non-agricultural ecosystems while ensuring the economic profitability of production and compliance with health regulations. At the end of the course, the student must be able to: * Analyze the risks of the presence of bio-aggressors in an agricultural environment; * Design an integrated control plan that takes into account the efficiency, economic, regulatory and environmental aspects; * Evaluate the proposed strategy in its various components (efficiency, profitability, compliance).
