Learning unit contents

The management of bibliographic references is a time consuming step in a scientific research and writing process.
This course aims to show how to use the Mendeley bibliographic reference management software to retrieve and store references, manage them, share them and produce bibliography, respecting editing styles.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the training, researcher will be able to:

  • retrieve and insert, into Mendeley, bibliographic references from database searches... ;
  • organize and manage these references ;
  • cite in-text citations and automatically edit the bibliography at the end of the text, in a correct format (publishing style of scientific journals) ;
  • share references and documents with other Mendeley users.

Assessment methods and criteria

The evaluation will take place on your personal computer (with some possible exceptions).
The objective of the evaluation is to check your ability to import references from databases useful for your cursus or from ULiège catalog, to show your ability to attach a pdf to a reference, to manually import a reference, to insert references in a text, to create a bibliography at the end of the text according to a specific editorial style.
