Learning unit contents

Contents : 1) Analyze of written and audiovisual media in France and Belgium, 2) Analyze of newspapers political ideologies, 3) knowledge of international political events. 
Students will have to write a comparative analysis of 2 newspapers articles.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Students will be able to analyse a press article or a report from a TV news programme while taking into account the broadcaster's ideology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Face-to-face; course on Monday from 14:00 to 16:00 (salle Wilmotte, place du XX-Août/place Cockerill). 
Based on exercises carried out in class or at home and based on theoretical contributions which can have a practical application, teaching will focus on student participation, interactions within the group and individual involvement.

Assessment methods and criteria

-Written work (25% of the grade);
-In June: Written exam (75%) including articles analysis or audiovisual analysis, open questions and possibly one or more multiple choice questions.

Assessment subjects

The exam will be an written analysis. Students can choose between 2 subjects : 
1) an analysis on 2 articles published in 2 different newspapers
2) an analysis on an extract from a programme or a film or a trailer

Assessment methods

A written analysis will be sent on May 9th on the latest.
