  • Fluids dynamics applied to the cadiopulmonary bypass (CPB)
  • Heat exchangers: conception, performance
  • Cerebral protection
  • Filters
  • Embolic events: prevention, equipments
  • Left vent 
  • Myocardial protection
  • CPB and coagulation
  • Accidents and incidents during CPB

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The purpose of these courses are to provide theoretical bases to the student, in the field of Perfusion so as to provide quality work combining efficiency, technical, diagnosis and therapeutic aspects.
If possible, a first approach to the clinical pratice will be done with simulation.  

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Kwnoledge:




  • Anatomy of the heart, vessels, kidney, liver and lungs.
  • Cardiac, respiratory, renal, hepatic and cellular physiologies.
  • Physiopathologies in the same field.
Skills: Evolve in an operating room, bases skills in nursing.

In-person classes: attempt to the lessons is suggested  
e-learning: done with a pedagogic team according with a planning

Reading of specific articles, mentionned in the notes, recommended.

Written examination
Oral examination with one or more teacher(s)
Ability of the student to make the link between the differents courses.

 Learning by simulation if it's possible 

Organizational remarks

e-learing: a weekly progess is recommended. Some forums will be organised for each chapter. A Q/A meeting with the proffessors will be planned.

L'ensemble de la matière sera évaluée.

Assessment methods

L'examen sera effectué en deux parties:
- Partie 1: examen écrit, en ligne avec des questions ouvertes, questions à choix multiples, vrai-faux. Durée de cette partie :1 heure maximum;
- Partie 2: examen oral organisé avec Lifesize. L'étudiant sera interrogé oralement en présence des deux enseignants. Durée de cette partie :1 heure maximum.
