Learning unit contents
The course consists in a set of seminaries addressing various basic topics of astronautical science. The course structure shall be modular and cover : launchers, orbits, space environment, payloads, on-board data processing, power supply, thermal aspects, ground segment, ground testing, basics of space project structure and management.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Our objective shall be to offer to the student a background and culture allowing him to address the various aspects of a space career. Accordingly, the topics shall not be addressed from first principles (in which case could have covered a complete course), but to develop a cultural basis and providing to those interested guidelines and references to develop their knowledge. The student shall also be better armed to gravitate in the operational context of a space career.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Standard physics background for students in physics or engineer science at Bac+3 level.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course shall be dispensed orally, in lessons of 2 hours each, according to a planning to be agreed upon with the students.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The teaching shall be face-to-face.
Recommended or required readings
Useful references shall be given at each lecture. Course materials (copies of Powerpoint presnetations) shall be made available on-line before each lecture.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination consisting in a brief presentation of a topic dealed with in the lectures, followed by a discussion.

The lectures shall be dispensed, in alternance and based on expertise, by Christian Barbier and Aurélie Fumel, possibly with the participation of an external speaker.
