Several professors are involved in this course. theoretical approach : historical approach of families and of family sociology (presentation of theories and authors) -discussion of recent research results concerning demography, families and their evolution, family policies, links private life/professional life, intrafamily violences, gender hierarchies...

give tools for ahistorical and critical apporach of the family, practices in evolution
Sociology of the family
to give students the necessary tools for a critical approach and analyse of contemporary evolution linked with 'family' and families realities ; links between family and other social spheres; evolution of power and resources between social and gender groups

nothing else than a high interest for the topic . Pupils are asked to attend a maximum of courses.

presentation and reading of papers, surveys research results; movie and video
Sociology of the family
reading of papers and meetings with field specialists. Presentation of field surveys and recent data.

individual and collective implication to illustrate the different functioning of families across the world; to illustrate why we must not only analyse social and cullutral realities with 'west' contemporary eyes. Collective presentation to the whole group.

Sociologists and researchers are invited ; videos and movies are used ... Students will join a conference or activity on the theme. If problem of participation, contact before mid-october
