Learning unit contents

Qualitative research can not be learned through words. Instead, novices should practice. This practical work thus consists in conducting a whole qualitative research from start to end: designing a research question, conducting interviews, analyzing transcripts and delivering results.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The student will be able to:


  • write up a qualitative research question,
  • conduct an interview,
  • actively participate to a collective analysis of text material,
  • summarize results from a collective research,
  • create efficient slides,
  • speak in public.

Practical work consists in realizing a qualitative research (elaborating a research question, conducting and analysis of an interview).

Assessment methods and criteria

  • Diary (collective) Each team helds a diary troughout the practical work.
  • Presentation (collective)
Practical works are organised (and evaluated) in first session only.
The written examination, the logbook and the presentation are each worth 33 % of the global note. The diary worths 2/3 of the global mark; the presentation worths 1/3.
