Description and use of different types of materials used in automotive: metals, ceramics, polymers and composites.

To choose the best material required by a particular application or for particular properties

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic knowledge in Materials Science: Structures and properties of metallic materials, polymers... (e.g. as envisaged in the course PHYS0904 : Physics of materials or other similar courses)

Learning by project. Group project

The evaluation for this course is based on an individual personal assignment i.e. the critical assessment of a scientific paper dealing with materials used in automotive applications.
