Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
In this course, the classical methods of statistical inference (estimation, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing) are developed in detail.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
After this course, the students should be able to estimate unknown parameters, to derive confidence regions and take decisions based on the result of statistical testing.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Probability and descriptive statistics
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
There are 15 hours of practicals and 10h of TD attached to this course. These hours will be divided into tutorials, practicals in the computer room of the mathematical Institute and personal assignments.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The courses and the tutorials/practicals are given over the first semester according to a timetable distributed to the students in the beginning of the academic year.
Recommended or required readings
Course notes and exercises sheets will be made available along the year on eCampus.

- Paindaveine, Davy. Statistics for business. Notes de cours.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final mark is a weighted mean of the marks attributed to the three following assesments (organised during the examen session of May-June):
-written exam on exercises
- oral exam on theory
- exam in the computer room (use of R)
A grade inferior to 6/20 in any of the parts will automatically lead to a failed mark for the course.
