Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course tells the history of the French-speaking poetry of Belgium since 1830, but especially since la Jeune Belgique and the symbolism, until our days. It consists at first of a history and an analysis of different poetics (conceptions and practices of poetic writing), through the study of texts and works, groups and influences.
A transverse look will observe the trends, constants and oppositions through the whole history.
The course will have a sociological dimension by approaching the question of careers, strategies, magazines and publishers.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the students will have a diachronic knowledge of the French-speaking poetry of Belgium; they will be able to locate any poet in an epoch, a current or a type of poetics; they can use this knowledge in their university (memory) or professional (secondary education) curriculum; they will have acquired complementary method in analysis of poetic texts.
