Learning unit contents

  • CEFRL levels of the course: B2 (level 4)
Study of the vocabulary and the main chapters of Dutch grammar through (drill) exercises, reading, writing, speaking and listening activities, based on authentic texts and documents related to business.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This is the fourth year of a 6-year programme. The final objective is the written and oral practice of Dutch.
The fourth part focuses on the knowledge of Dutch grammar and vocabulary related to business.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The student should have attended the first three years of the program or have a good level in Dutch to be able to follow this class.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

2 hours every week. Students will be asked to do some homework and attend the class actively. It is possible to follow @lter at the same time.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written and oral examination in June.


  • The written exam will consist in different grammar and vocabulary exercises and a writing exercise.
  • The oral exam will consist in an oral presentation with a Power Point of a file of texts (10 pages) chosen by the student.
ATTENTION: students have to suscribe for the oral exam BEFORE THE EASTERN BREAK (by mail). If they don't, they are not allowed to take the exam. Remember also that an absence to one of the parts of the exam = 0 for all parts of the exam.

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

Face-to-face courses have been replaced by:
 
- the sending of the corrected answers on myuliege...
 
- the possibility for students to complete several additional assignments at home and send them to the teacher for correction
 
- creation of a DISCORD network with text chat rooms (forums) to allow students to ask questions directly, related to the subject matter
 
- live" sessions via a DISCORD vocal lounge organised every week instead of the face-to-face course: review of the material (reading of texts, debates, explanations, etc.) and question-and-answer session.

Assessment subjects

1. Oral presentation of the reading file on the basis of a Power Point (10 min) - question/answer session
2. Vocabulary and content of lessons 5 to 8 of the "Néerlandais des Affaires" coursebook and the files related to these lessons.
a) Vocabulary questions: synonyms, opposites, definitions, translations, ...
b) Content questions: summarising, giving your opinion, paraphrasing, ... the texts/videos in the files.
