Learning unit contents

The course is made up of 3 different parts:
1/ Hybrid courses
2/ Interaction
3/ Presentation skills

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will reach the Level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in oral interaction within his or her field of specialty.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The student has to have a B2+ level in prepared speaking (cf. CEFR) before starting the course.

Hybrid courses

Interaction (weekly speaking, 2nd semester, 1h/wk)
Online learning modules for presentation skills

Assessment methods and criteria

Hybrid courses*: 40%
Interaction: 55%  
Online test (presentation skills): 5%
*A student who is absent for one hybrid course will automatically be considered ABSENT in June for his or her English course.
The students who sign one part of the exam will be given 0/20 as a final grade.
Exemptions, even partial, will not be granted.

Organizational remarks

A student who leaves for one term/semester/year has to contact the Engilsh teachers before leaving.
A precise description of the course organization and contents as well as the evaluation criteria (Introductory Document + English Portfolio) has been made available for the students on eCampus.

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

  • Organisation des 'speaking courses' en virtuel (petits sous-groupes qui parlent pendant 25 minutes du sujet donné)
  • Feedback collectif en audio/video

Assessment subjects

  • Les sujets qui auront été débattus pendant les cours en présentiel et les cours virtuels

Assessment methods

  • L'étudiant recevra un lien Collaborate sur lequel il devra cliquer
  • Il sera renvoyé automatiquement à une salle principale (la salle d'attente comme s'il attendait devant la porte du bureau des professeurs)
  • Les étudiants seront transférés par le professeur de la salle principale à la salle où ils passeront leur examen 2 par 2
  • L'examen durera 10 minutes, pour les 2 étudiants (5min/étudiant) et il devra interagir sur les sujets vus au cours en intégrant le vocabulaire vu pendant l'année
  • Les questions faites par les meneurs de débat seront postées sur ecampus
La note finale comprendra :
  • Le cours hybrides (Q1/Q2) (si un CH n'a pas été testé, la pondération se fera sur base du nombre effectif de CH que l'étudiant aura eu) (cf. portfolio)
  • Online test (octobre)
  • L'examen oral de juin
