Learning unit contents

  • CEFRL level of the course : B1

Introduction to business Dutch and study of the vocabulary and the main chapters of Dutch grammar through grammar (drill) exercises, reading, writing, speaking and listening activities.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This is the third year of the programme. The final objective is written and oral practice of everyday Dutch.
The third part focuses on a basic knowledge of Dutch grammar and vocabulary.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

A basic knowledge of oral and written Dutch is required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Reading and listening comprehension, grammar and vocabulary exercises, debates, written assignments, etc. based on the chapters in Néerlandais des Affaires - Intermédiaire + - volume 1: vocabulaire thématique n/f - Editions de Boeck (2015).

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

2 hours every week. It is possible to follow @lter Basic at the same time.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam in June. The written exam will be composed of grammar and vocabulary exercises, as well as reading and writing exercises.

Adaptation of teaching commitments following the COVID-19 pandemic for the May-June 2020 session

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning

Face-to-face courses have been replaced by:
 
- the sending of the corrected answers on myuliege...
 
- the possibility for students to complete several additional assignments at home and send them to the teacher for correction
 
- creation of a DISCORD network with text chat rooms (forums) to allow students to ask questions directly, related to the subject matter
 
- live" sessions via a DISCORD vocal lounge organised every week instead of the face-to-face course: review of the material (reading of texts, debates, explanations, etc.) and question-and-answer session.

Assessment subjects

The virtual oral exam is composed of the vocabulary from lessons 1 to 5 of the Dutch Business Manual, as well as the additional exercise packs relating to these lessons. Attention: the student must be able to express himself/herself on the themes covered in the files (cf. reading and listening comprehension): summarize, give his/her opinion, ...

Assessment methods

Virtual oral exam via the DISCORD platform. The student will be evaluated on his knowledge of vocabulary and his ability to express himself on previously prepared subjects (vocabulary, grammar, fluency, etc.).
