Learning unit contents

Study of the artistic expressions in the West during the Gothic period.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student can locate any architecture or work from the Gothic era in space and time. Having become knowledgeable in this field, the student is able to conduct his own scientific research on questions related to the field.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Having followed the course "Histoire de l'Art et Archéologie du Moyen-Age: de l'époque paléo-chrétienne à l'époque romane" , or having read the part dedicated to western art from the Merovigian to the Romanesque period in: Ch. HECK (sous la dir. de), Moyen Age. Chrétienté et Islam, Paris, 2005 (p.132-279).

Church and museum visits are proposed.
