Learning unit contents
The lecture is centered on morphological effects of earthquakes and on the surface of volcanoes.
It covers various aspects of neotectonics, seismo-tectonics, seismology, tectonic geomorphology as well as the physics and geomorphology related to volcanic activity.
This lecture also includes an English evaluatoin.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The goal is to understand the geological origin of earthquake and volcano hazards.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Good knowledge of English and maths.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Analyses on maps, aerial and satellite imagery; microseismic measurements and data processing.
2 visits in the Roermond Valley Graben and the Hockai Fault Zone.
Learning how to write a scientific report in English.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
6 lectures of 3h,
2 sessions of 3h of exercices and data processing.
2 days of fieldwork, combined with ambient noise measurements
Report written in English and oral presentation (in English) about a topic related to the lecture (in neotectonics).
