The course follows the whole investment process. Its logical follow-ups are the courses of Financial Risk Management (BAM, FE, E&F), Financial Risk Modeling (FE, E&F), Estate and Financial Planning (BAM), among others.
This course features in the framework of the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. It spans a significant portion of the CFA Programe Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), and explicitly prepares for the CFA certification.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Understand the whole process of investment through links between several notions seen in other courses and practical applications.
Intended Key Learning Outcomes:
In concordance with the Key Learning Outcomes of the Master in Management Sciences, this course aims to enable the student to:

Prerequisite knowledge and skills
This course requires few prerequisites. However, some acquaintance with financial markets and instruments is assumed (see prereadings). Familiarity with the cash flows discounting and basic statistical techniques (descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing and linear regression) are also assumed.

Teaching methods implemented : distance-learning
Until the end of the semester, Part G (portfolio performance) will be covered through distance learning.
The guest lectures initially foreseen are all canceled and there will be no material associated to these topics.
Assessment subjects
Course material covered in the written exam will feature
- for theory: Parts C to G covered in class or with distance learning
- for exercises: all topics covered during the exercise sessions for parts C to G + the scope of the assignment for parts C to G
Excluded from the written exam:
- The guest lectures initially foreseen are all canceled and there will be no material associated to these topics.
- Parts A & B which are adequately covered with the assignment
Assessment methods
Written open-book exam with open-ended questions (no MCQ) on topics C to G.
The exam will have to be handwritten on paper, then photographs of the answer sheets will have to be transferred - please make sure that you have a smartphone available at that moment and that you can send pictures.
The exam will count for 60% of the final grade - the assignment will count for the remaining 40%
