Learning unit contents

The lectures contain the following theoretical chapters:
1. Observation of the atmosphere
2. Surface and atmospheric energy budgets
3. Atmospheric thermodynamics and air mass stability
4. General circulation of the atmosphere and climates

All chapters contain pratical exercises allowing a better assimilation of the theory by the student.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, the student will know the bases of climatology and will be able to apply them to some major environmental problems.

basic knowledge of mathematics, physics (thermodynamics), biology and geography

Theoretical lessons and exercices

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

4-hour lectures (one of two times per day) according to time slot availability.
Alternation of theory and practical works.
