Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, students should be able to :

  • Describe the organization of Health System in Belgium, its origin and objectives
  • Understand the specificity of the Health Economics
  • Analyse the mechanisms and parameters influencing the growth of spending, including drug expenditure, and ways to contain this growth
  • Decompose the price of drugs, calculate the patient's co-payment
  • Describe methodology of drug use evaluations and pharmacoeconomic studies

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Having completed an internship in community pharmacy, communautary care, ... is helpful to put in perspective the theoretical lecture with field practice.
