Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This course aims to provide information and analysis. With this in mind, not only does it provide essential information concerning the administrative status of foreigners but it also examines more generally the ways the law deals with contemporary migration.

The course is presented in the classic manner (lectures) accompanied by joint analysis of case law decisions opened up for discussion. No practical work

The course is given in the classical manner with lectures accompanied by joint analysis of judicial decisions opened up for discussion.
Oral personal work
The students will work in groups of 2 or 3 to prepare an oral presentation to be given in class. The presentations will be given during the lessons in front of the other students. There is no requirement to submit a written text beforehand but an outline of one page maximum may be submitted. Each student will have five minutes for his or her part of the presentation for a total of ten to fifteen minutes per group. The presentation will provide a commentary on one or two case law decisions selected from a list. The choices and order of presentations will be decided during the first lesson.

Recommended or required readings

The students will be given documents (table, bibliography, PPT) in the lessons. Readings are advised, but not compulsory.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will be evaluated continuously throughout the year based on the work presented and the final evaluation in the form of an oral examination.
