This course is a general introduction to the marine aquaculture world. The socio-economical, historical and environmental contexts of marine aquaculture are briefly discussed. Basic general techniques are presented and applied to various marine taxa currently cultivated. Then, the aquaculture of studied marine organisms (i.e. algae, mollusks, crustaceans and echinoderms) is detailed: uses, production statistics, biology, life cycle, farming, harvesting, packaging and pathology.

We'll speak mainly about artificial ecosystems building and maintenance, in particular :
* Materials * Light * Water chemistry * Filtration (Life Support System) * Food end feeding * Transportation of live animals * ...

1. To present general aspects of marine aquaculture for algae and invertebrates (concepts, methods, diversity,...). 2. To place marine aquaculture in its socio-economical and environmental context.
