Learning unit contents
This course focuses on the methodological aspects of development projects. It provides the essential tools and notions necessary to build, analyse and assess development projects. It also aims at clarifying the scientist's role in comparison with the expert's role in the area of development activities.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Good knowledge of the different steps of the Project Cycle Management (PCM).
Good understanding and use of the logical frame and other project assessing tools (problem tree/solution tree, SWOT analysis...)
Good understanding and use of the methodology of Outcomes Mapping.
The student should be able to contribute to the definition and the assesment of a project in response to a call for proposals.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A good knowledge of current actors and issues of the aid industry is an asset.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Active participation to the workshops.
2. In small groups, preparation of a development project in response to a false call for proposals (role play). Each group will stand up for its project in front of a jury.
