Learning unit contents

Health simulation, through the use of different tools to reproduce in a more or less realistic way clinical situations, would bring significant added value to the training of health professionals. Three main types of simulation can be described: human (role playing), synthetic (mannequin) and digital (virtual reality etc). While health simulation is primarily used in initial health education for health students or for the continuing professional development of health professionals, some projects are also being developed for patients to accompany a return home, treatment or to better understand a disease and its consequences on the patient's lifestyle.
In this context, the course aims to explore the numerical and innovative simulation technologies that are currently developing for the training of caregivers but also for the management of patients. It is a matter of discussing the added value of these new mechanisms, identifying the conditions for their implementation, discussing societal issues as well as ethical implications.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - to discuss the added value of innovative simulation devices for the training of professionals and for the care of patients - identify the conditions for their implementation - to discuss societal issues and ethical implications.
