Learning unit contents
Specific methods used for the diagnosis of hematology diseases in the clinical laboratory. The course is the follow-up of the introduction to clinical biology, hematology section, whereby the main cytology and coagulation tests are adressed.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
- Immunophenotyping: numeration of lymphocyte sub-populations, numeration of hematopoietic progenitor cells, phenotyping of hematological malignancies. Theory and practical cases.
- Primary hemostasis: principle of tests used for the evaluation of platelet function. Interpretation of cases.
- Histocompatibility: description and analysis of the HLA system. Application to organ and stem cell transplants.
- Immuno-hematology and blood banking: description of the main system of blood goups. Laboratory methods used in the context of blood transfusion.

General Hematology.

Ex cathedra lessons. Discussion of clinical cases.
