Learning unit contents

Lectures are divided in eigth chapters :
1) Biochemical basis of the Sport Activity.
2) Overview of the energetic metabolism.
3) Methodology to study Energetic Metabolism duing physical exercise.
4) Energy transfer systems.
5) Energy transfer at rest and during exercise.
6) Energy metabolism duting walking, running and swimming.
7) Quantification of the individual energetic capacities.
8) Nutrition and sport activity.
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The learning outcomes for this lecture are to stimulate a reflexion in which the student will be able to apply various metabolic concepts previously studied in a given situation : the physical activity or the sport activity.
The student should be able to explain in a simple way various metabolic concepts to a non-scientific person in order to help him or her for a sport activity.
The student should be able to give advices to athlets of various level about various aspects of the energy metabolism during the sport activity.
The student should be able to understand what could be informative in various energy metabolism evaluations done more or less regularily in athlets.
The student should be able to integrate various aspects of the energy metabolism during effort when an individual training plan is elaborated for each of his or her athlets.

General and human biochemistry, general and human physiology.
