Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Critique analysis of: Emmanuel Kant, Kritik der Urteilskraft (Critique of Judgment).
The course will give a study of the first part of the Critique of Judgment, namely the "Critique of the Judgment of taste". We will analyze the Kantian text in order to understand how the concept of finality is used in the context of aesthetics (with a particular emphasis on the sublime), putting it into a double perspective: how it relates to Kant's precritic Observations on the Feeling of the beautiful and the Sublime (1764) and how contemporary philosophers deal with Kant's doctrine (especially J.-F. Lyotard, Lessons on the Analytic of the Sublime, 1991)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To be able to analyze a Modern philosophical text and to put it into perspective within the history of philosphy.
