Learning unit contents
This course describes the pharmacological basis of therapeutics. Each chapter begins with a short description of pathophysiology. Therapeutic targets and the drugs acting on them are highlighted. Novel directions in therapeutic strategy may also be described.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of this course, the students are supposed:
- To know the main targets of drugs that are used in therapeutics,
- To understand why it is interesting to act on such targets,
- To be able to give a few examples of drugs that are used clinically,
- To describe innovative strategies for the discovery of new drugs.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Notions of general pharmacology, physiology and pathophysiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam consisting of two general questions, that the student can prepare during twenty minutes, as well as three short questions.
