Learning unit contents

Course description :
The few basics of acoustics and lighting techniques are presented, those which are necessary to understand and apply the regulations for the hygiene, security and protections of working people.
Contents :
- sound propagation, spectral characterisation of sound and noise signals, sound levels and decibels, dBA
- evaluation of discomfort and annoyance, noise regulations,
- principles of noise reduction in industrial workplaces,
- basics of photometry and lamps,
- lighting of workplaces (recommendations and regulations).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, it is intended that the student will be able to understand and apply the technical recommendations used for the regulations of noise and lighting in workplaces.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Basic physics and mathematics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

This course is organised in modules, each of them consisting in a general presentation ex cathedra, including some exercices proposed by the teacher.

Face-to-face learning.

Assessment methods and criteria

The evaluation is an oral examination during which the student will answer to questions concerning the theory that has been presented during the lessons.
