Learning unit contents
This course addresses various specialized topics in metals engineering, among the following:
- Solidification of metals and metallic alloys.
- Thermal and thermomecanical treatment of metals and alloys.
- Corrosion and surface treatment of metals.
- Metal matrix composites, including their processing methods and specific usage properties.
- Structural adhesion.
- Non destructives testings.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Understand and control the relations between the processing method and parameters, the (micro-)structure of a metallic material and its usage properties.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
PHYS0904 Physics of materials (Part metallic materials), or similar formation.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course comprises a series of ex-cathedra lectures.

Powerpoint presentations and publications from scientific literature will be made available for the students via internet (details will be given in class).
