Learning unit contents

Discussion of the work of Paul van Ostaijen, one of the most influential voices in 20th-century Dutch literature.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Extending the knowledge of the political, historical and cultural context of modern Dutch literature. Developing the students' analytical and reflective skills. Refining their command of Dutch.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

A good command of written and spoken Dutch.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Introduction to Van Ostaijen's life and work. Analysis of a number of key texts, followed by public discussions.

Duration and period: 30h of theory in the 1st semester.
