Learning unit contents

Translation from Ancient Greek and Greek prose composition. Some chapters from Greek grammar. In-depth analysis of Greek particles. Private reading.

Enhancing students' knowledge of Ancient Greek.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Very good knowledge of Ancient Greek language (grammar, stylistics and vocabulary).

Marcel Bizos, Cours de thème grec, Paris, Vuibert, 1999. ISBN 2-7117-7213-6. Additional course supports will be available on the Blackboard application eCampus. Private reading (Herodotus' book 3, 1-66) will be based on the Paris edition by Ph.-E. Legrand (Collection des Universités de France).

Assessment methods and criteria

Tests during the year. Written final exam. Oral examination on the private reading. Written exam on the particles.
The mark of the midterm exam in January will count for 20% of the June final mark if > or = 10/20. The mark will have no effect on the final grade if it doesn't reach 10/20 and the final exam will then be cumulative.
