Learning unit contents
During this course two handbooks and a syllabus will be used. Grammatical structures will be introduced progressively. By the end of the course, students should be able to use the vocabulary of the handbook, as well as the other vocabulary seen in class. They should also be able to use grammatical structures efficiently.

At the end of this course, students will
- be able to express themselves correctly through speech and writing on a large number of everyday subjects or domain-specific subjects
- have improved their listening comprehension and reading skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
All four language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) are developed. - Acquisition of general and domain-specific vocabulary through various exercises - Acquisition of grammatical structures through grammar drills and other exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria
- Continuous assessment of progress:
oral presentation in class (4 marks)
- Written exam (with listening comprehension): 20 marks
- Oral exam: 16 marks
All parts of the June and September exams are compulsory. Students absent from one of the exam parts will be assigned a mark of 0.
Students who do not take both the written and the oral parts of the exam will be assigned a mark of 0. No partial exemption will be granted.
The continuous assessment mark will be taken into account for both exam sessions.
