Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is based on the student's report, written in English, and the oral defense, in English as well. The length of the report should not exceed 20 pages. Annexes are permitted.
The structure of the report can draw the instructions provided within the course "STRP 3162-1 - Principles of Management". The body of work should help answering the following questions as a priority, according to the company profile:
- Marketing Strategy - How does the company communicate its strengths to the customer? How does the company identify customer needs and the evolution of these needs?
- Human Resources Strategy - How does the company recruit, train, develop, motivate and place employees so that behavior is directed towards the competitive strategy and lead to build a competitive advantage?
- Financial Strategy - How does the company secure financial resources that are necessary to carry out its competitive strategy?
- Operations Strategy - How does the company design processes/procedures to produce goods and/or services that meet customer requirements?
- Information Systems Strategy - How does the company provide decision makers, at all levels, the information needed to make decisions that are consistent with strategy?
- Technological Strategy (R&D) - How does the company develop new products/services to meet future needs?
The report is assessed by the academic promoter of the final thesis in a company and by the departmental coordinator of internships and functional analysis according to a defined outline. When being the advisor as well, the coordinator will choose a second teacher.
The defense by the student, which is assessed according to a defined outline, is oral and public. It includes an oral presentation (15 minutes), a questions/answers session (10 minutes), and is followed by a deliberation. This presentation will take place before a jury composed of the academic promoter, the departmental coordinator of internships and functional analysis, as well as teachers and scientists of Chemical Engineering department.
