Learning unit contents
This course contains 2 parts:
1. Calculation of chemical analyses of minerals.
2. Crystal chemistry of rock-forming minerals.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the interpretation of chemical analyses of minerals. The crystal chemistry of the main mineral groups is also presented in detail.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The content of the course "Cristallographie et Minéralogie" must be known.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practicals: interpretation of chemical analyses of minerals and macroscopic identification.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Face-to-face learning. Practicals are OBLIGATORY.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination for theory. 5 minerals to identify. Written examination on chemical analyses.
No partial dispense.
Work placement(s)
Two days of field-trip in the Ardenne mountains.
