Learning unit contents

This is not a course, but a paper in EU Law for students in the 'Maastricht' option.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Having completed this paper, students will have improved their capacity to concieve and to write a well-argued legal text. They will also have strengthened their ability to conduct research autonomously in EU law. They will also have made progress in their ability to synthesise legal material.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

EU Law (taught in Maastricht).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students will meet collectively four times with their tutor for - the choice of topic and an exchange on methodology - their bibliography and understanding of the topic - an exchange on the structure of the paper and one written passage - an exchange on questions of substance and form before finalizing the paper

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Students will work autonomously on their paper. They will meet three times with their tutor.

Recommended or required readings

Assessment methods and criteria

The paper will be assessed taking into account the understanding of the topic, the quality of research, the use of sources, quality of structure and writing of the paper.
Attention will in particular be given to rigourous links between the various points adressed in the paper.
A well-argued personal opinion will be a plus.
