Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
The first part of the course is devoted to preanalytical phase, analytical techniques and instrumentation, quality control and results interpretation. The second part deals with the main classes of biochemical blood components (inorganic elements, small organic molecules, macromolecules, enzymes,...), determined in the clinical laboratory, as well as with the exploration of the various functions of the body (renal function , liver, thyroid, ...). The importance given to the various chapters is modulated according to the matter of human and pathological Biochemistry seen previously.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To give information on the biochemical compounds determined in the biological fluids by the clinical laboratories, on their interest in human pathology and on the analytical techniques used for measuring their concentrations.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Human biochemistry, general principles of pathological biochemistry, elements of analytical chemistry.
