Learning unit contents

The course is divided into two parts. The first consists in a general approach to major aesthetic theories as these have been developed from Antiquity up to the present day. The second part has to do with architecture and the specific problems encountered in architecture as an artistic activity. The particular themes treated will vary from year to year (architecture and its relation to other arts ; architecture and space ; architecture and time, etc.).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To allow students who do not specialize in these subjects to familiarize themselves with philosophical thought and with the employment of its concepts in the area of aesthetics, and particularly with regard to aesthetics as applied to architecture.
