Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Descriptive statistics Probability Statistical Inference (Confidence intervals, hypothesis testing) Correlation and Simple linear regression Contingency analysis: Chi-squared test of independence.
Forecasting (introduction, moving averaging models)

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

According to the intended learning outcomes of the programm, i.e. "use adequately the statistics in the context of the management", after this course, the student

  • will learn the basics necessary for the proper understanding and the proper use of statistics in various areas (management, market research, finance, ...).
  • will be able to appeal to the theories described in the contents above to analyze data to determine the analytical tools that are suitable for this analysis and will be able to adequately draw and formulate conclusions arising from this analysis.
This basic course allows to access various other domains where the basic statistical knowledge is a pre-requisite.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Algèbre de base.
Use of a spreadsheet

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The knowledge will be acquired through lectures. The student will solve problems during exercices session. The problems will finally be discussed collectively.
The exercises are to be prepared outside of class and before the exercise sessions. The list of exercises to prepare The exercises are to prepare outside of class and before the exercise sessions. The list of exercises to prepare will be announced approximately one week in advance.
Personal work, outside class and exercises sessions, is expected of the student. Each session will begin with a brief session of "questions  & answers" on the previous course.
As an extension to the theory and practical sessions, individual sessions or small group remediation are offered to all students genuinely involved and making the request.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Lectures (ex-cathedra course) Exercises will be checked all together

For exam periods, scholarship students should be aware that unauthorized absence exam can cause them to lose access to scholarship. The current regulation specifies that: Failure to present himself at the exam leads to a rating of "absence." This absence can be excused if the student sent a medical certificate to the apparitorat as soon as possible and no later than the third calendar day counted from the start of the absence.
